Shafties Vs Heel-heads

In my two recent posts about actresses playing Peter Pan, I featured a style of boot that are deeply polarizing to the boot community at large. "Shafties" (such as myself) will find the tall shaft of these boots pleasing and will be, at best, only slightly disturbed  by the construction of the foot.  Heel Heads on the other hand are likely to suffer a deep, visceral revulsion to the utter lack of a heel.

Conversely, to a shaftie, there is no such thing as a tolerable ankle boot (or as I call them, "shoes with delusions of grandeur").  I cannot generate the slightest interest in any pair of boots that does not at least cover the calf and there are many who feel the same way about a heel under 3 or 4 inches. Problematically, these are personal responses that come from a place before words.  Intellectually, I can understand that some might find the boots above tragically wanting. Emotionally, all I can muster is "Uhhhha, boots NICE!"

  1. This is the most eloquent statement I have read in explanation of the liking for ankle boots. I am obviously a 'shaftie' as to me, a boot has to be knee high to register. I have always been flabbergasted that a boot fan would prefer a prim ankle boot with a heel over a tall, shiny, almost fetishistic riding boot, but that's obviously just me.

As an aside, my wife is 'making noises' about getting a pair of ABs for the first time in 12 years, and I am frankly shitting myself.
