Well that changes everything

The "new Black Canary (left) is a bird of completely different feathers.
As you may have noticed I don't actually watch most of the shows I follow. I run through them in FF scanning for boot possibilities. Or even less effectively, just sample 10 to 15 quick scenes and if nothing seems promising decide to process them "later." This is why I have multiple terabytes of movies and TV  shows waiting to be processed(someday I'll get around to the first season of Gossip Girl).
As I've mentioned before, Arrow on The CW is hugely frustrating. Almost all the action scenes are very dimly lit and most of the women's action outfits are quite promising from the knee up and a crushing disappointment below(see the "original Black Canary on the right).
I certainly don't pay close enough attention to notice that one actress is "killed" and her debutant sister trains for months to be able to fill her boots. In this case the sister, boot veteran Katie Cassidy, decided to upgrade those boots. To a shaftie there is no comparison between those floppy calf-high things and those knee protecting beauties.  My initial assumption upon viewing a few seconds of her spinning around in near total darkness was that all those buckles running up her leg were to disguise the inherent ugliness of ankle shoes. All I saw was a big-haired blonde in a leather suit on a show that had broken my heart many times in the past(Arrow has a fair number of suited up action girls-in crappy boots).
Here's a really high-res version. Study it in all its screen-filling glory. Ever since Emma Peel first zipped up, we've seen lots of variations of the leather fighting suit, hell some of them used to be actual leather. The suit itself is merely above average, but I do give huge extra points to the genius behind those garter-belt strap things.  It's the boots that push this into the upper echelons.  The shaft is certainly high enough to be of interest and the foot is solid and well-constructed. If there was much more of a heel it would require frequent use of stunt boots. Sadly, in most medium to low budget productions, stunt boots are usually little more than black sneakers paired with clumsy prop-department spats(see Black Scorpion).
It should go without saying that I'm in the process of viewing my lo-def copies of older episodes of Arrow and acquiring and trimming the BPV (Best Possible Version).

Just thought you'd want to know.

Last Minute Add- Blogger does a poor job of displaying extra large images. You'll have to either right-click "view image" or "open image in new tab" to see it in its proper glory.
