Silver Boots on Stage-Part 1

The lead in to Christmas is kicking my ass. If this nonsense took place in summer, I'd want nothing to do with it. Being surrounded by booted women in the shops makes it MUCH more tolerable. More regular updates should return shortly.

Mark Morris's post-modern take on The Nutcracker, The Hard Nut (1992) is my favorite dance performance. And the brief appearance of a sliver booted "Barbie" doll doesn't detract from my enjoyment. I know it makes me a bit of a Philistine, but I've always liked the original score (which is topped only by the BRILLIANT Ellington/Strayhorn swing arraignment).  I love the way Morris uses the classic score, maintains a clear narrative thread and mixes in pan-sexual casting and choreography that combines traditional and contemporary dance without ever degenerating into flopping around on the floor. Watching this ballet has been a Christmas tradition in our house for almost 2 decades.
BTW-it wasn't until all the clips had been uploaded and I was making the still-caps that I noticed that 3 out of 4 of today's update featured silver OTK's dancing on stage. STRANGE BUT TRUE!!!!!!!
