I don't want to spend the mental energy to come up with a cute title.

From the decently dressed Finnish actioner Priest of Evil (2010). Nothing extraordinary, just a number of nice boots (with some leather pants thrown in). This got me thinking-in someways Engineer boots have something in common with Riding Boots. Both are iconic and widely imitated styles. Just as there are many "riding-style boots" (riders) there are a lot of flat boots with a buckle over the instep that imitate a true pair of Engineers. Imitate, but not duplicate. I've mentioned my 2009 trip to Manhattan. I saw a TON of knee-high buckled boots that trip. I saw exactly ONE woman wearing a true pair of 18 inch Engineers. She was walking east on Bleeker towards Bowery-that's how well I remember that one gorgeous pair of butter-nut beauties.
