From Joy Ride (1977) I saw this look every (winter) day from 1978-1980. I'm pretty certain these aren't actual Fryes but are the knock-offs or look-a-likes that were EVERYWHERE.

  1. I'm betting you have it on your radar, but you should look into the great booted scenes of Jacqueline Bisset in "Who's Killing the Great Chefs of Europe" and, to a lesser degree, "Class."

  2. You're right on all counts. If there's a movie that shows off better 70's boots with greater variety, than "Chefs" I have yet to see it. It is the gold standard. There have been a number of good boot edits of it over the years so I'm kinda holding out for a blu-ray- I've got a quality rip on my HD, so maybe this'll be the shove. I'll have to re-visit Class, lots of people have recommended over the years and the couple of times I've zoomed through it, it's left me unimpressed, but you know boots as well as anybody, so...

    1. In Class, it's a scene when Bissett and Andrew McCarthy are walking around Chicago, shopping, etc. They're beige or tan, leather OTKs, similar to some of the ones she wore in Chefs. Might just be that one scene.

Plus, I'm biased by my childhood crush on her.

    2. I hear you, Jackie B was alright by me. In fact there's a picture of her that was in a glossy newsmag when The Deep came out that I've been looking for forever. My memory is that she's all in black with a pair of suede, top-buckled OTK's swinging on a light pole. I'd love to see that one again.
