Elisha Cuthbert in Knee Boots and Shiny Pants

A few days ago, reader jklm made this comment, "You spoke of the dearth of good boots on TV, where I've noticed it most is the talk show circuit." He touches upon a trend that I've noticed and find most disturbing. The picture above (and video below) are from 2010. The vast majority of talk show boot sightings on this blog are at least 2 years old. 
I understand the fickle and cyclical nature of fashion. 2 or 3 years ago, knee boots were common for TV-show dressy casual and action girls. Now those characters wear combat-y lace-up ankle boots. In a couple of years styles will change and maybe boots I like will be back.
The problem I've noticed with talk show guests is that the entire nature of HOW they dress has changed. "Dressy Casual" has almost completely disappeared from talk shows.  Trip-to-the-mall/date-nite dressy(prime boot fodder)is gone and has been replaced with "it can go from the office to the party" wear.  If you look over the vast majority of late-night talkshow guests this year, it's not just that they're not wearing boots, they're not wearing clothes that are ever paired with boots of any kind. It seems a little crazy to blame one person, but it does seem like a lot of women are trying to dress like Kelly Rippa, all of them headed to some sort of never-ending Spring Gala at the Country Club of the Damned.
