Why I'm a Pessimist-

I don't want to go off on a rant here, but you may have noticed that when in comes to boots in a TV series I almost always assume the worst. I've been wrong before, it certainly seems the red thigh boots are going to make into the SuperGirl series. But the same industry that broke my heart with The Tick and Black Scorpion -The Series seems to be at it again.

The OTK's in Young & Hungry-never seen again. The suede thigh boots in Spun Out-replaced by rarely seen OTK's. It's still early for these two shows, but on Gotham-episode 2 featured the two crazy chicks in a  brief but tasty whipping scene- one barefoot and one in spiky sandals! Admittedly there was a micro-second scene of Tabatha in her thighboots, but.....Dark Emma on Once Upon A Time-her first outfit is a plain little-black-dress with pumps that looks like she's the hostess in a restaurant and her second was leathery, but appeared to feature ankle shoes. There's been much better bootage in Blood & Oil, the North Dakota oil field drama that follows it.

I need to remember that costumes on TV's are almost always at least 1/2 a season behind the celebrity/paparazzi zeitgeist-which is bootie as it's been in ages. I'm hopeful for the future of quality bootage (and the death of horrible little ankle shoes) but the journey is long and the road uphill.

  1. Add to the disappointment list:
    -Minority report
    -Quantico
    -Agents of SHIELD (3rd season).

    1. I haven't given up on Shield, Quantico never had a chance and Minority Report seems to suffer from the "Castle" syndrome-GREAT leather jackets over fabric pants which hide the shoes almost entirely. I almost think they do to save money-spend everything on the upper part which is the only thing most people look at.
