St. Vincent - Now, Now - Live In Paris 2017

In the fall of 2017 serious musician/guitarist St. Vincent decided her preferred stage-wear would be a body suit and matching shiny, high-heeled thighboots, because.......you know 2017. There's a lot of video of this on youtube if you look.

This autumn and winter are popular! How do you wear high boots?

A news feature with pretty girl trying on OTK's (arguably thigh high). Be patient, it starts getting really good around the 50 second mark.

This clip was included in a playlist. It starts off slow, there are very few boots in the first 5 or 6 clips (excluding this one) but it picks up and has contains decent clips I hadn't seen before. Certainly worth a moment of your time-

Yatterman, oh man

I give you the wonderfully bootie crazyness of Yatterman (2009) The boots and leather speak for themselves. There's a tiny bit of funny business at the very top of the shafts, but multiple other views strongly suggest proper leather thighboots.. Special commendation to the stunt boots in the dance sequence. I understand how complex choreography would be complicated by 3 inch platforms. Her stunt boots are still better than 95% of other villainess boots.

A slightly longer version of this wonderful clip has been hiding on my hard-drive since 2010. A bit of judicious trimming slimmed it down to single file size. However it is a primitive encoding and I reserve the right to upload a proper, modern x264 1080p version.....someday.

Maria Taylor boots it up

Wow, this clip of lovely sportscaster Maria Taylor in matte OTK's over shiny pants took me 10 times longer than it "should have." I'm re-learning my work flow and it was bumpy as shit this time around. This is the first of my own captures that I've prepped in well over a year and everything that could go wrong did. Of note, if I had remembered the long sun-lit interview, the shadowy one before it would have been much shorter.

One of my goals for my re-born blog is to streamline editing/posting operations. Prepping this clip was the complete opposite of streamline.

Step one-avoid rabbit holes...

Step two-jump down a rabbit hole.

So, for the previous post I had to find the name and spelling of Elvis's co-star Michele Carey. This led to a waist-up picture of her in fetching cow-girl garb from the movie El Dorado. Fortunately, a quick image search for "Michele Carey El Dorado" led to this-

Lovely, but not really worth hunting down the complete movie(wet boot fanciers may disagree).

But....yes there is always a but.....the other assorted images of 60's cowgirls got me thinking about one of my favorite topics. Namely how contemporary fashions (including hair and make-up) strongly influence the costumes of historical (and speculative) features.   Despite being set in the 1800's this image could never have come from the 1950's.  Conversely, Star Trek's lady Klingons (TOS version) look EXACTLY like 1968.

Thankfully, I stopped myself before I could jump down that particular rabbit hole. But (see, always a but) one of the things I missed about this blog was being able to document every random bit of crazy that came into my head. See, now you're thinking "Why did we miss this guy?"
