Two observations about this twofer clip from the Jingle Ball TV special.

I do think Demi Lovato's boots/shorts outfit from 2015 looks a whole lot like what Bridgit Mendler wore 3 years earlier (see below).

The other will take a little more time.  Pictures from this performance of Selena Gomez in thighboots worn under a plaid shirt tied at the waist had been circulating for a few days before my trip to Vegas.  I saw a young lady (who bore a passing resemblance to Ms Gomez) wearing a very similar outfit walking with her boyfriend on the casino floor in the Bellagio.  She wore one of the most amazing pairs of boots I've ever seen.  They were exquisitely crafted black leather that reached at least 8 inches above her knees(far, far up her thighs).  I'm not a great judge of these things, but my gut says these were at least $1,000 boots(probably more).  Many would be disappointed by the 2 inch heels, but these appeared to be serious couture boots and the heel, foot and shaft showed impeccable design. They looked almost custom fitted to her legs.  Not stretchy tight, but no sign of any sagging.  She was probably in her early to mid 20's and the most remarkable thing was how effortless her whole outfit looked.  I saw lots of  women on this trip that looked like they had stepped out of JohnSmith's fashion blog, but she took it to another level.   So many of the fashion obsessed LOOK like they're obsessed with themselves.  If this young lady told you, "Oh this is just something I threw on" you might believe her. Until you noticed just how perfect every piece was. I don't think I'll ever forget.

Here's a conversation starter-In 2012 Bridgit Mendler performed on X-Factor wearing a shorts & suede OTK outfit very similar to one Demi Lovato wore at the 2015 Jingle Ball(see above, eventually). Does this mean anything? Or am I grasping at straws?  Am I getting a little loopy? Is it time for breakfast yet? One thing I know for sure, hyper-kinetic LED stage backgrounds wreak bloody havoc with video capture.

Boots on Bones pt 2

From Bones (S08E02) I was surprised that back in 2012 I hadn't  gotten a  720p version of this clip. Emily is wearing an out of character pair of brown riders and there's a bit of bootcentric action at the end. I got all charged up to track down a bigger version, but then I recognized this as a time suck with limited return.  So, we'll all just be happy with this version.

Boots on Bones pt 1

A case could be made that the long-running show Bones(this is s07e13) plots the course of boot styles over the last 11 seasons.  I was thinking about making this case now, but my fingers disagree. So here's some shots of the lovely Michaela Conlin in the lace-up knee-scrapers that she often wore and Emily Deschanel in one of her long line of riders (which seemed to get progressively less interesting with each new version).

I indulge my fondness for black leather fighting machines in this clip from Black Butterfly (1989)
