The great prognosticator is stumped

Summer is about to give way to fall. For about the last 20 years I've issued grandiose and deeply spurious predictions about the upcoming boot season. Right or wrong (usually wrong) I've had a strong, possibly delusional sense of what the next 6 months might hold. This year I got nothing.  Fabric thighboots might continue to be inexplicably popular. The leather, knee-scraping, scrunch boot might be the boot of the year. Some particularly repellent form of the ankle shoe might grab the spotlight. I have no idea. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Miley Cyrus gives a spirited performance of  "These Boots..." on Jimmy Fallon. Of note, they did NOT include a close-up during the "Are you ready boots?" break. This is a clear violation of the camera operator's code.

When Grande doesn't mean big

Ariana Grande is quickly becoming a boot icon. Here is a pretty complete version of her Aug 16 appearance on Jimmy Fallon. I did not include her Aretha Franklin tribute which is available here.  This is a very active talk show appearance with an extended walk on and 2 "out of her chair" episodes. I was mildly dismissive of her a couple of posts down. She is clearly a talented singer and is much smarter than her public persona. And that's the problem I have. I've never been fond of women who "play dumb."  To put it in old fogey terms-I'm going to pick Jane Russell over Marilyn Monroe every time.

Game of Thrones is another show that I watch (and really enjoy) rather than simply monitor. I was thrilled when they finally started to get the costuming "right." This is s07e04.  Like my Gotham vids, this clip is longer than the boots warrant.
