You Won't Need To Download (or read) This

This is only a test. Mostly. Here we see Marilu Henner on The Meredith Vieira Show wearing slightly below average riders and Judy Gold on Steve Harvey wearing some sort of vaguely shiny pants and not particularly interesting boots.

If you're old enough to have watched Taxi during its first run, I don't have to explain why I still have a little crush on Marilu and I've always liked Judy Gold, so the vision of a funny, 6 foot, 3 inch lesbian in boots is too tasty to ignore.

But these clips are here more as a speed-test than anything else.  Sometimes it seems like it takes me half a day to capture, trim down, process and upload some of the longer, boot rich shows(Home & Family, DA, etc).  But, I'm easily distracted and I'm sure that during that time, I'm playing with the dogs, grabbing a snack, checking for new youtube videos, obsessively visiting NJRS and the NewsWomenBlog, downloading new videos and torrents,  wondering if Equalizer 2000(yes!) or Spring Break (no) have been released in HD as well as attending to all my real-life concerns.

So, I thought I'd see how long it takes to trim, convert, combine, upload and prep two easy videos. Turns out it's quicker than I thought at right around 15 minutes.  Writing this self-indulgent mess will take an additional hour, but I'm not counting it.  That 15 minutes does not include capture time.  Sadly, there's not much I can do to compress the amount of time it takes to pull videos off my DVR. It's done in real time, is in a different room than my main PC, requires some monitoring, can only be done while my wife is away and hogs my laptop.  That time tends to be when most of the dishes get done(and when I bounce around the house to old Clash songs playing loud enough to alarm the dogs).

But now that I've focused on the last few links in the process, I feel pretty good about the work-flow. Once the .ts files have been transferred to this PC, processing my own caps doesn't take that much longer than downloaded files. And I feel confident in the quality. Those have both been problem areas in the past.

Speaking of the past. In the old days, this is when I would have decided that this was all a silly mess that no one would care about and I'd have deleted the whole thing and then felt bad the rest of the day for wasting so much time. FU@K THAT SH!T.  I warned you right at the top you didn't need to read this, and if you did, that's on you brother.  And yes, I was right, writing this did take just about 1 hour, but I did play with the dogs and go see if there was any coffee left(no).
