I was young and naive the first time I saw The Savage Innocents (1960) on TV.  I believed (wrongly) that the crotch-high proto-Uggs worn by the "Eskimo" women were period inaccurate and had been influenced by the  black and shiny crotch-high boots I had just discovered in late 60's fashion magazines. Decades later, I was shocked to see 100 year old photographs of Inuit women wearing EXACTLY this style of leg-long boot. So, while they get points deducted for casting Anthony Quinn as the lead, they earn points for accurate costuming.
