A Booted Amazon's Unspeakable Threat

From Blandings S01E06.  Her boots are nothing to write home about, but she's presented as a powerful amazon and she makes a threat similar to the one Vanity makes in Never Too Young To Die (if you know, you know-if not check it out).  This clip is nowhere near as graphic as that classic from 1986, but.....

A Bevy Of Thigh Booted Dancers

No Bollywood action movie (in this case Agent Vinod-2012) is complete without some version of this scene-an unrelated song and dance number set in a high end disco. In this case they're booted, so.....

More Catherine And Other Historical Boots

After yesterday's run down of Catherine The Great movies, a reader reminded me that Julia Ormond wore the Empresses' boots in Young Catherine (1991) And I remembered 1963's grossly disappointing Catherine of Russia(again with the majorette boots?)
I also remembered that 2 years ago (ok, 1 year and 11 months) I uploaded scenes from Il Cavaliere Misterioso (1948) which casts Casanova as a sort of proto-James Bond. In his travels across Europe he encounters a lady spy in one of the least convincing "masquerading as a man" outfits I've seen. Thankfully, her boots are quite convincing. Our hero then travels to Russia, where he "befriends" Catherine The Great and when she twists her ankle while riding, he's polite enough to rub it through her boot (shame he didn't try to kiss it to make it better). Again, this has been lurking in the older pre-blog section of my youtube channel for ages, so you might have seen it, but just in case-----

Craig Ferguson with Lauren Graham October 2009

You've probably seen this, but here's Lauren Graham (in black OTK's)on Craig Ferguson.

The Greatest Catherine

This portrait of Catherine The Great from 1762 is possibly the oldest surviving portrayal of a woman in thigh boots. Sadly, most filmed accounts of her life have been disappointing (boot-wise). The Scarlett Empress(1934), possibly the best known, features Marlene Dietrich as the Empress of all the Russias wearing a pair of tasseled calf-high boots more suited to a 1950's marching band.  If memory serves, the missing and feared lost  Great Catherine (1968) features a (bare) foot rubbing scene, but no boots of merit. Catherine Zeta Jones tried her hand at it in Catherine The Great (1995) and did manage to briefly wear a tolerable pair of cavalier boots(yes, I'm trying to track down a decent copy).

In my opinion, The Rise of Catherine The Great (1934) easily wins the bootiest prize.  Star Elisabeth Bergner wears the ugliest wig (I hope it's a wig)in Christendom, but I really like her boots. There are a number of full body walking views and this copy I found is nice and  sharp for an 80 year old movie. My edit is pretty tight and it still manages to run 3 minutes.
