I think it was the debut of the reboot of Beauty and the Beast (2012) when I began to notice the party was over. A year or two earlier the sort of stylized action girl costuming on Kristin Kreuk and
Nina Lisandrello would have almost certainly included taller boots. Instead we were treated to a parade of ankle shoes. One bright spot was the knee booted foe featured in this brief fight scene from S01E01.
Was the ankle booter who got chucked off the platform the goodie or the baddie?

Sadly, she was the goodie (only in terms of the plot, fashion-wise clearly the baddie).
