I know a thing or two about boots and how they've been worn throughout the "boot era."  Conventional wisdom is that a high cuffed, solid-footed, earthtone boot that reaches to the knee and is worn over pants  is a product of the late 70's. Think One Day At a Time or Season Hubley in Hardcore.  I was pleasantly surprised by the initial bootage in A Cuore Freddo. I was shocked to find that it was released in 1971!!!!!(5 or 6 people just gasped).
This kind of single dot outside the cluster can be unnerving to people who like to categorize. Is this an early influence of which we were unaware? Or is it simply an aberration that only appears to forecast a style that wouldn't be popular for another 5 years? Watching the rest of the movie (which included several other pairs of boots) provided a clue. In the final scenes I believe she's wearing the same pair of boots, but in their more period correct manner-with a mini skirt and pulled up to full height. I have come to the conclusion that the boots to the right are an above-average leather pair of well constructed late 60's/early 70's thigh boots. For some reason the wardrobe department chose to pair them with pants and likely found that they bunched too much at the knees and cuffed them over (this sort of cuffing is not unusual-the brunette in Ingrid sulla strada spent some time with her vinyl boots cuffed down). It is also within the realm of possibility that the director wanted a somewhat equestrian vibe in the scene where she rides her boyfriend up a flight of stairs and around his apartment (while her husband watches from across the street).  This is all speculation, but one thing I know for sure, that blonde looks REALLY good in her boots.
