Just some guy obsessed with women wearing boots. Here you'll find all sorts of mostly safe-for-work bootage. The emphasis is on booted women in the popular media.

Early Example of Boots Over Pants
http://www80.zippyshare.com/v/9IJZdb90/file.html
From the Australian movie Stork (1971) Closer examination shows that rather than a proper full length pant tuck, these are more like loose denim Capri pants.
Australia seems like a lovely country. But when viewed through the narrow lens of boots in the popular media, it ranks near the bottom on my "boot likelyhood" scale. On film it appears to be some bootless mix of Florida and Arizona. I'm certain that the country is more than Bondi Beach and Ayers Rock. Just as "my" California is more than palm trees, Palm Springs and sandy beaches. In fact, in my corner of sun-baked So-Cal, boots go into full bloom immediately after winter rains. They are much more common than media deceptions of the region would have you believe. So, I hope my Australian readers are enjoying your Southern Hemisphere winter.
BTW-in more "great minds think alike" news-I write these little posts in my head as I'm prepping/uploading them. I had already chosen to use the Florida/Arizona metaphor to denote bootlessness when the esteemed John Smith recently mention those exact two states as probably being boot-starved. I'm not sure why I'm so amused by these coincidences.
I'd like to take this opportunity to salute treasured (and towering) Australian character actor Bruce Spence who plays the rather overwhelmed young man featured above. In his position as honorary chair of the psychology department at the University of Woolloomooloo (Python fans howl with laughter), he is an inspiration to all ridiculously tall, bespectacled, awkward blonds named Bruce.

Oh my. What absolutely sublime tan 70s boots. This excellent blog throws the occasional moment of booted perfection (in my mind, at least!)

ReplyDeleteSuper brown knee highs here. They don't compare to the "Street People" platforms from 1976, but these are pretty darn sexy.
And this from the early 70s -- wow!

ReplyDeleteCate Blanchett interview from 2005 on Australian TV
Cate Blanchett is stunning in suede. Gorgeous. Liked her boots in the Indy movie as well. Change of subject slightly but jeans tucked in to boots. Here's Susan Anton from an NBC show called Cliffhanger from 1979. This is only part of a larger movie that I can't find but I know there was a scene of her hanging above a river full of piranha, with the fish snapping at her booted heels, but sadly that's not part of this clip but thankfully some good boot views. Sorry quality is not very good.

Also looking for any clips of a movie I used to have on VHS called "Make Me an Offer" from same time with the equally stunning Susan Blakely in lovely fashion boots in almost every scene.
Turns out I've got the complete version of both Cliffhanger and Make me an Offer (which on quick scan does not seem quite as bootie as you recall, but is still quite nice). Both are on a hard drive waiting for a trim. Maybe this will be the push I need.
DeleteLooking forward to seeing "Make Me An Offer"
