Fantasy, History and Me

As you grow increasingly ancient, you learn more about yourself(if you're paying attention). For my first decade on the internet I thought I could comprehensively report on the entire "boot scene" (oh, the folly of youth). I then attempted to limit my scope to boots in the popular media.  In 1999 that might have been possible.  In 2015 I am forced to concede that I am limited to simply doing whatever the fu@k I want. In my heart I really, really want to be a completist.  Reality has freed me, there's just too much stuff out there.

I like over-the-knee boots, I like knee boots worn over pants, I have a weak spot for leather suits. For me, heel-height is less important than shaft height. I'm a sucker for bootcentric action (de-bootings, kickings, lickings, etc).  I have a deep interest in fantasy/sci-fi/historical costuming-the more outrageous the better.  I have a collectors passion for rare or unlikely bootage (Judy Garland in OTK's?  Yes please!).

As I've mentioned,  knee boots worn with skirts/dresses are of limited interest to me. Which leads me to Wayward Pines, a new drama on Fox. A reader and good friend sent me a tip regarding this show. Sure enough, it features frequent bootage just like the scenes above(S01E05 seems like the best so far). And I just can't muster up a give-a-damn.  Inside of me there is a sense of duty that urges me to acquire HD versions and trim and upload them. This sense of duty is in direct competition with my inherent laziness and the couple of terabytes worth of unscreened material I have to scan through.  I'll continue to monitor each episode, but in the absence of bootcentric action, I probably won't ever share any clips from this show. I wish it was different. I REALLY wish I could do everything. But I can't and my only two options are to stew about it, or just move on to the clips that interest me. It's better for everybody if  I choose the latter.
